Financial Aid

To be eligible for most financial assistance programs from Parkland, you must adhere to the following:

Forms to complete
Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Parkland as one of your school choices. The FAFSA may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Campus based aid is distributed to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Academic requirements
Be a degree or certificate seeking student and enrolled a minimum of six credit hours in an eligible program each semester.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress (more information). Academic progress status can be checked by logging into the parklandconnection.

Financial need
Demonstrate financial need. Financial need is considered to be the difference between one academic year’s educational expenses (tuition, books, fees, room and board, commuting costs, etc.) and the applicant’s resources for the same period (aid from parents, savings, trusts, grants, personal earnings, etc.) as documented in the applicant’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Student loans
You must be in good standing with lenders on any student loans. If you have trouble repaying your Parkland student loan — ask us about your options. Call 217/351-2222 or email us or stop by our office.

Selective Service
Almost all male U.S. citizens, and male aliens living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. If Parkland College determines the failure to register was knowing and willful on the part of the student, the student is ineligible for all federal student financial aid programs.

Federal verification
Compliance with federal verification process. Financial aid applications are randomly selected by the federal processor for verification. If a file is selected for verification, the following may be required from anyone who has submitted the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

• Signed copies of applicable federal tax returns or non-filer tax statement
• Proof of citizenship
• Proof of registration with Selective Service
• Copies of Social Security benefit statements
• W-2 and 1099 forms

Failure to submit the required documentation will result in the loss of financial aid.Phone: 217-351-2222 • Fax 217-353-2640

Federal School Code: 007118

Parkland College complies with the Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) in accordance with the provisions of Public Law 93-380 as amended.
